New Buds

rotten fruit new buds.jpg

In twilight’s dank and odious arbour,
I look for solace among dead vines.
Their choking hands admit and harbour
Many lies from within their strands.

Too deathly pale the honey suckle rose,
Its pallid echoes breathe and gasp.
Its frown then holds me, and does suppose,
That I too, am often left to the cold.

I bite on rotten forbidden fruits,
Long forgotten and refused by time.
Frightening, but appetising are these shoots
They let me retch whilst savouring.

I write poetry/prose/stories/short stories/verses for children/sketch/and have 6 chapters of a novel sitting there like that half eaten trifle in the fridge or bottle of Jack Daniels because something makes you afraid to eat it or drink... right now.. I am a proud Geordie from England's northern hemisphere and the beautiful city of Newcastle upon Tyne. I live with my lovely husband who came all the way from sunny California just for me, and my favourite animal, Bobble, our dog. I am a member of Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth and wish we could all do more, especially today, when such a lot is wrong.

    1. Hi, I’ve been so busy with my fundraising for CRUK, which requires a lot of down time painitng and creating then selling those to raise vital funds. I enjoyed a brillaint summer doing that, and it won’t end until deep winter. This is my 2nd year, I might push it to a third. I have published 3 or so here this month, whch I was pleased I could do, and only due to being a man down (my husband visiting family in USA) so I am stuck for a while. But I do stab at it now and then. It was so lovely to see your encouraging comments, they are always such a boost. I hope you are well, and enjoying the successes that you achieve.

      1. Thanks for your updates. To keep the same pace is not always easy! I myself have been slowed down though still trying to write & publish . I wish you success in your projects and keep writing! Best!
